Are you a calm, resilient, and passionate individual with a desire to make a real difference in young people’s lives?

Our Secondary School in Tower Hamlets is looking for a Behaviour Mentor to join their team in September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a one-to-one and small-group capacity. We will be interviewing throughout May, with trials in May and June.


The Role:

  • 1:1 Intervention – Provide tailored support to students with ASD and challenging behaviour, helping them re-engage with their learning.

  • Promote Positive Behaviour – Use de-escalation and behaviour management techniques to create a calm and safe learning environment.

  • Collaborate – Work closely with teaching staff, SEN teams, and external professionals to implement and review behaviour plans.

  • Track Progress – Monitor behavioural improvements and adapt interventions where needed to meet individual student needs.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience – Previous experience supporting children with SEN, SEMH, and challenging behaviour is highly desirable.

  • Strong Interpersonal Skills – Build trust and positive relationships with students who require consistent emotional support.

  • Calm & Compassionate – A patient, empathetic approach with a proactive mindset in high-pressure situations.

  • Team Player – Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a supportive school community.


Desirable:

  • Physical Intervention / Team Teach Training

  • Understanding of ASD and SEMH strategies

  • Experience in a Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, or Teaching Assistant role


Entry Requirements:

  • QTS is preferred but not essential

  • Fluent spoken and written English

  • Previous in-school experience
