Our Secondary School in Tower Hamlets is looking for a Behaviour Mentor to join their team in September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a one-to-one and small-group capacity. We will be interviewing throughout May, with trials in May and June.
1:1 Intervention β Provide tailored support to students with ASD and challenging behaviour, helping them re-engage with their learning.
Promote Positive Behaviour β Use de-escalation and behaviour management techniques to create a calm and safe learning environment.
Collaborate β Work closely with teaching staff, SEN teams, and external professionals to implement and review behaviour plans.
Track Progress β Monitor behavioural improvements and adapt interventions where needed to meet individual student needs.
Experience β Previous experience supporting children with SEN, SEMH, and challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
Strong Interpersonal Skills β Build trust and positive relationships with students who require consistent emotional support.
Calm & Compassionate β A patient, empathetic approach with a proactive mindset in high-pressure situations.
Team Player β Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a supportive school community.
Physical Intervention / Team Teach Training
Understanding of ASD and SEMH strategies
Experience in a Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, or Teaching Assistant role
QTS is preferred but not essential
Fluent spoken and written English
Previous in-school experience
